Belvidere was built in 1849 by the Perth architect Andrew Heiton
for local solicitor William Young (1798 - 1870), who had come to Auchterarder as
an apprentice solicitor. He was also an agent for the Union Bank of
Scotland. Belvidere was built on the site of two earlier houses, the first
dating from 1698. When Young's family sold the house in 1950, it passed
through several owners, including a Brigadier Sanders who changed the name to
Ochil Tower, before being purchased by the Camphill Movement in 1972.
The photos below were presented to Ochil Tower school by Mr
Young on 9 May 2000.
